Taking the Strain Out of Cycling With Electric Bikes

We all know that cycling is a great way to stay fit, but those initial few weeks of getting back into cycling and other sports activities can be daunting.
Electric bikes are a great alternative to traditional bikes, providing just enough assistance to get you up that hill or keep the sweat at bay as you commute each morning.
Liberate your legs with electric biking
Electric bicycles offer you the confidence to bike, with motors that assist your pedaling, so you don't have to worry about not being fit enough to complete the ride.
It is a liberating way to cycle even if you are trying to increase your fitness levels. The range of electric bikes now available online are there to give you support, how much is exactly up to you, so pedaling is no longer an uphill battle and you can rest whenever you feel like you've had enough.
The benefits of electric bicycling
There are health and usage benefits to electric biking. Health wise, biking is great exercise to encourage weight loss without straining your joints - a big plus for those cyclists with arthritis. It's a pleasurable sport, releasing endorphins that make you feel good and, reduces the risk of heart disease and Type II diabetes as well as keeping your hips flexible! Perfect if you're not feeling as strong as you used to.
Electric bicycling is one of the healthiest ways to get around today. It is also a very economical form of transport. No licence is required. There is no road tax to pay and you don't use fuel, so you're doing your bit to preserve the planet too.
Just imagine, no MOT's, no tax or petrol expenses and a fitter, healthier you.
How do electric bicycles work?
Electric bikes use a rechargeable battery that drives a small electric motor to help you pedal when you need it. Some work off a pedal sensor that decides how much help you need according the effort you use while others have a handlebar throttle like on a motorbike, so you can decide just when you need the help from the motor.
This is all good news if you intend to carry a bit of shopping up a hill from time to time or need to arrive at your destination looking cool and collected.
Electric bikes are bicycles and as such, are limited to a maximum speed of 15mph with the motor running and an average power of 200W.
Pricing and availability of electric bikes
One of the best models of electric bike on the market is currently being offered online at just A 549.99 instead of the RRP of A 699.99. It's called the Electro-City and is similar to the 'Powacycle' Puma. This electric bike is a high specification, lightweight, folding electric bike - compact and affordable - and you can put your order in online to be ready to ride this Summer.
With its six gears and a twist grip throttle, the Electro-City puts you in control. It weighs in at 17.8kgs and will take you up to 26 miles with gentle peddling. Perfect for commuting!
If you're looking for a bit more power, then the Power-City V2 electric bike would be for you. It has a powerful battery to take you further at full throttle (Top speed 25kms/hr) and folds down to a neat and tidy 850mm x 410mm x 800mm! It is currently being offered online at A 599.99 instead of the RRP of A 799.99! But hurry as this 'compact' offer is apparently depleting stocks rapidly!
My personal online favourite has to be the City Lynx. It looks more like a traditional bike and has more power than the fold up versions. It has a larger, step through, lightweight frame in aluminium alloy and a powerful battery that goes faster and lasts longer. The maximum speed is 25kms/hr and the distance is 50kms. It doesn't fold but I rather like the intelligent pedal assistance and the luggage rack! This Summer's online offers are from A 549.99 which means a saving of aroundA 200.00 off the RRP of A 749.99!
